The State of Nevada has presumptive disability laws!!

If you contract or get diagnosed with one of the following ailments, cancer, heart disease, infectious disease, lung disease, and/or have been a firefighter in the State of Nevada for two years or more, you may qualify for presumptive benefits under Nevada law.

At anytime should you be diagnosed with any of these, please contact your Union representatives immediately!! This is important because the City of Las Vegas has never provided the necessary training for defining these benefits to the members. Because there may be time sensitive deadlines for these benefits it is important to contact either the City of Las Vegas, or your Union reps.

Cancer as occupational disease of fire fighters.

Lung diseases as occupational diseases of fire fighters and police officers.

Heart diseases as occupational diseases of fire fighters and police officers.

Certain contagious diseases as occupational diseases.
